It has been so great to feel the first hint of fall breezes during the early mornings. This summer has felt so long that we are all ready for the changes that fall brings.
Yesterday we went to Hoover Central, a park that we were introduced to thanks to our friends Beth and David. Their son Lucas is a month older than Nate, and his baby brother Zachary is four months old. Nate was thrilled to spend some time at the park with Luke and see baby Zach.
We had muffins and Starbucks and caught up with our friends while the boys played. We were amazed how fearless Nate has gotten when it comes to going down tall slides by himself -- just a few weeks ago he was still nervous to to that.
It's funny to watch two year olds play -- they sort of play near each other instead of directly with each other. But as soon as we left Nate immediately asked for his friend Lucas.
So now it's time for another week. I ended up dropping one of my classes. It was a tough decision, but I have so much going on, with work, with my family, with the things that I actually *want* to do. Like working on my house. And reading the stacks of books that continue to grow on my nightstand. Organizing photos, painting our family room, talking to friends.
I honestly don't know how much I want this degree anymore. As much as I enjoy learning and interacting with my professors and classmates, it's hard to focus on case studies and reading when there are beautiful Saturday mornings, growing little boys, and real life.
The plan is that I am just going to take it one class at a time. I am in a radically different place than I was a year ago when I started this degree, and I might make different decisions because of it. There's just no template, so I'm taking it day by day.
